Kevin Hellman · President
Kevin Hellman is the Publisher of San Diego CityBeat, a San Diego alternative weekly newspaper. Prior to CityBeat, Hellman published SLAMM, a San Diego area publication which covered San Diego musicians for nearly 9 years. Hellman has also been a talent buyer for many community events, concert venues and nightclubs in San Diego, in addition to running a talent booking agency on the West Coast from 1984 until 1991. He is the founder of the annual San Diego Music Awards, an event which has donated nearly 1100 Baby Taylor Guitars to San Diego County elementary schools since 1998.
Bryan Spevak · Secretary
Bryan Spevak is an account supervisor at San Diego-based Nuffer, Smith, Tucker Public Relations. Prior to joining NST, Spevak spent three years at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, where he served as PR/marketing manager, overseeing all institutional, exhibition and program-related communications. Spevak started his career as a publicist at Geffen Records, developing campaigns for such artists as Counting Crows, Arc Angels, Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds, Maria McKee and Ricki Lee Jones. Spevak relocated from Los Angeles to San Diego in 1994 to manage the daily operations for local label Cargo/Headhunter Records working with such bands as Three Mile Pilot, Heavy Vegetable, Garden Variety, Boys Life and Smile.
Larry Munroe · Treasurer
For the past 22 years, Larry Munroe has been working with the concert promotion company, Fineline Entertainment. From 89-95 he worked at SDSU's college radio station KCR as a new music DJ, Promotions director and Music Director. In those years he also worked with local concert promoters and venues promoting shows. From 94-01 he worked at San Diego's Cargo Records marketing bands to college / commercial radio and performing A&R, marketing and distribution duties. In addition he has helped organize national showcases at CMJ and SXSW and was a co-host on the local radio show Dated and Jaded that aired on 91X's Loudspeaker. From 2001-2005, Munroe co-owned and operated Bandsbiz, a company which helped artists by forming a roadmap and marketing plan for future success.
Benton Moore · Director
Benton Moore is a San Diego entertainment attorney who champions artists rights. Through his firm, Benton Moore Advisors, he helps clients navigate music industry transactions, including international licensing, intellectual property, television, film and Internet rights. His clients include musical artists, writers, producers and independent record labels. Moore is the past chair of the Entertainment & Sports Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association and a panel attorney of the California Lawyers for the Arts. He has served on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Music Awards since 2001.
Al Guerra · Director
San Diego native, Al Guerra is an integral part of the local music community. Throughout the course of his career, Guerra has scouted music for Dreamworks Records, worked in radio (91X, FM 94.9, Rock 105.3) and online music (MP3.com), and promoted local music series and events (Stripped Acoustic Showcase). As an artist manager and advisor, he's helped a long list of San Diego artists. Currently, he serves as talent buyer for Viejas Entertainment & Production.

Elizabeth Bradshaw · Director
Elizabeth Bradshaw is originally from the UK. She came to San Diego two years ago from Cornwall, England, where she was working as a promoter for independent regional company, SW1 Productions. While at SW1, Elizabeth booked, promoted and produced concerts and coordinated the line up for “Beach Sessions”, a week long concert series. She also co-booked “Unleashed”, a 2 day music festival held in conjunction with the largest skate, surf and music festival in Europe - the Relentless Boardmasters. Starting her career as a junior researcher on the BBC’s Top Of The Pops @ Play, Elizabeth has been involved in live music booking since 2001 and now as the curator for The Loft – UC San Diego’s performance lounge and wine bar, she is excited to be involved in San Diego’s music scene.
Nicole Matteson · Director
Nicole Matteson is an events coordinator with a passion for live event production and all things Southern California. She is the Manager of The Loft, the indie style venue on the UC San Diego campus. Matteson also trains student interns in production management and produces about 160 events a year at the small venue. She moved to San Diego in 2004 to study Communication at UC San Diego and pursue a career in entertainment law and film production. From working on feature films to live events, she truly loves the field and all the folks she’s met along the way. As a member of SDMF, she wants to work with local music she loves to competitively promote professional events and hometown artists to the mainstream media.
Jon Block · Director
Jon Block is an event producer specializing in San Diego music & arts. As one-half of Walk the Walk Presents..., he created the monthly North Park mini-festival Sight & Sound, and is producer of the annual Art Around Adams as well as the taste-of event Spirits at Liberty Station. His solo efforts include the monthly night Voices at Onyx Room, as well as Masquerade: New Year's Eve Celebration at the Birch North Park .
Bart Mendoza · Director
Bart Mendoza is a Samn Diego music journalist/historian and musician. He has spent time working for Capitol Records and Diamond Distribution, as well as written numerous album liner notes. He has penned for publications including The San Diego Union Tribune, Time Out Travel Guide and San Diego Troubadour. In addition to production and session work, Mendoza has been frontman for Manual Scan (1980’s) and The Shambles (1990’s – today) as well as penning songs for others. The song “Survive,” co-written with Danish producer/musician Jeppe Riddervold, won a 2003 EMI Publishing Award in Berlin, Germany.
